What technologies are utilized in these machines?

The technology relies on a combination of UVC bulbs and HEPA filters. The HEPA filters help facilitate high airflow that allows the machine to achieve up to fifteen air changes per hour. UVC bulbs expose all the particles that are pulled into the machine to germicidal irradiation. This approach makes sure that the room undergoes continuous sanitation in a manner that’s safe for everyone in the building. We also include an optional hydrogen peroxide module, which produces microscopic aerosols to sanitize the air and surfaces.

Are these machines safety-certified?

All of our products are TUV-certified, which means our machines have been “tested for electrical safety, hazardous material components, and unwanted noise production.” All of our filters are rated according to MERV standards, too. This stands for minimum efficiency reporting values. This helps establish a filter’s ability to capture particles between 3 and 10 microns. For instance, a MERV rating of 12 means the filter can capture 80% of particles between 1 and 3 microns. A MERV-12 filter can capture 90% or more of particles between 3 and 10 microns.

What is UVGI?

This abbreviation stands for ultraviolet germicidal irradiation. It’s a method of disinfection that relies on ultraviolet light to destroy microorganisms. These lights produce short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation that destroys DNA in microorganisms. Destroying the genetic material of these cells renders these microorganisms incapable of functioning or reproducing. However, this approach breaks down particles that can include eyes, human skin, and plastics. That’s why applying this approach is often best used in contained environments or upper-room UVGI. The success of this germicidal irradiation depends on the intensity, duration, and targeted microorganisms.

Given the size of COVID-19 particles, how effective are HEPA filters?

COVID-19 particles are 0.125 microns. By contrast, HEPA filters can remove particles that are as tiny as 0.01 microns. This makes HEPA filters a great tool to reduce the risk of coronavirus exposure.

Why do Omni CleanAir’s machines use UVC?

This type of light falls between visible light and X-rays, which is a particular wavelength that isn’t visible to the human eye. There are three different types of UV light. The light between 320-400 nm has a long wavelength and is called UV-A light. It’s often used for glow in the dark designs. UV-B light (290-320 nm) can cause sunburn. This is the type of light that filters through the ozone in the earth’s atmosphere and causes skin cancer, cell damage, and sunburn. This is the type of light you’re trying to block out when you put on sunscreen. UV-C light, which falls between 100-290 nm, is harmful. This is because it destroys the nucleic acids in cells, which is very harmful to human cells as well. This light is used as a disinfectant and is incredibly useful when contained and applied correctly.

Is the noise level disruptive to conversations?

Being able to maintain a conversation is essential. Hearing your patients, staff, customers, and clients communicate their concerns is crucial. And if you’re always asking them to repeat words, it can quickly become frustrating! That’s why we’ve crafted our machines to fit into your environment while still maintaining the high airflow necessary to keep you safe. Our smallest unit registers below 35 decibels, which is 5 decibels lower than a typical library environment. Our middle unit is 55 decibels, which is the noise level of a standard refrigerator. Our largest unit registers at 65 decibels, which is how loud a typical conversation is. When you position this unit, be mindful of noise levels and how that could impact your place of business.

Why 15 air changes per hour?

Air change per hour is a peak standard in ventilation design and refers to the number of times the total volume of air in a room or building is completely changed out in one hour. In hazardous environments, there are air safety standards that must be met. Inconstruction zones, for example, the standard is six air changes per hour. In operating rooms, the standard is 15–the same number of changes Omni CleanAir’s machines provide in any building.

How do the filter and bulb status indicators work?

While the machine is operating, these light indicators will remain solid. When it’s time to change the filter or the bulbs, the lights will begin to blink. For the UVC light, the blinking indicator means that the bulbs have run down due to constant use. For the HEPA filter, the blinking light indicates a pressure differential. It’s trapped so many particles that it’s altered the airflow and needs replaced to continue to do an optimal job.

Can this machine run 24/7?

Currently, Omni CleanAir machines are in the field logging over 400,000 hours of continuous use. Built for workhorse use during pandemic responses, nuclear fallout, and construction disasters, these machines are meant to run around the clock. Of course, you might prefer to turn it off overnight. If so, you can set the machine on an automatic timer cycle.

Where do I place my Omni CleanAir machine for best results?

Designed with a 360-degree airflow intake, our machines are effective almost anywhere in your workspace. If uncertain, simply place the machine in the corner of the room or along any wall with a standard 120V outlet. Select a location where the machine will not be in the way or block an exit. Avoid placing it too close to a wall or other obstacles, including curtains which could be sucked up against the vents and limit performance. Place available machines in your most high-risk areas, which typically includes high-traffic areas, enclosed spaces with poor ventilation and areas with regular activity that could produce large amounts of aerosols, like a conference room. I’ve unboxed the machine. Where do I place it?

We recommend placing your machine against the wall. Ensure that nothing is next to it, since items could be sucked into the blowerand prevent high airflow. Since our devices are portable, it’s essential to prioritize placement where it’s needed most. Moving the machine to poorly ventilated, enclosed areas (like conference rooms or waiting areas) is the perfect place to put it.

How difficult is it to set up the machine?

All you have to do is take it out of the box and plug it in. That’s all that the setup process requires!

How much time does installation take?

What type of maintenance is required for your machines?

The short answer is none. Once a year, you’ll need to change filters and UVC bulbs to ensure your machine is operating at maximum protection, but that is all.

How often do I need to replace the filters?

We use medical-grade HEPA filters that meet HEPA-18 efficiency standards. These are designed to be used in the most demanding applications, such as patient isolation, biohazard cleanup, low-level nuclear cleanup, and laboratories. That means they work continuously for extended periods. As with all filters, the exact life varies and depends on the environment in which it is used. They typically last for 6-12 months when used continuously.

How often do I need to replace the bulbs?

The UVC bank has operating specifications of 375 days of continuous operation. We recommend replacing all bulbs at the service interval.

How do I know when to replace the filters and UVC bulbs?

All of our machines have built-in sensors that will notify you when it’s time to replace the filters or UVC bulbs. The lights on the machine’s face will stay solid during regular operation. When it’s time to change the filters and UVC bulbs, these lights will blink.

How and where do I get new bulbs and filters?

We have two easy options for consumable replacements. You can buy it here or take advantage of our gold package. The prefilter, HEPA filter, and UV bulbs are all packaged together for easy replacement.
